Alright... I'm in the courtyard...

*Arrives at the courtyard where Rei is, and almost immediately snatches up Rei into a hug*

*At first she's a bit surprised, but once that passes she returns the hug tightly, trying not to cry but failing at it.*

*Miria wasn't going to cry either, but as soon as Rei starts she quietly follows. The gynoid then gently starts petting Rei's hair.*

*For a while, it's just crying, but when she manages to quiet a bit with that, she starts talking*

I-I miss them both so much... why'd I have to wind up here without them...?

*Doesn't let go*

I-I don't know... *Sniff* I-I'm sorry... I just don't know.

I-I'm sorry, Miria... I-I wanna go home... I just wanna go home!

*Hugs Rei tighter.*

I want to, too. I want to see my mama again... I just don't know how to get home though.

*Rei goes quiet again, sniffling and crying, and just clinging as tightly as she can.*

*Luckily, to a certain extent, Miria is soft.* *Miria gently coaxes Rei to nestle her face in Miria's neck. Continues petting Rei's hair*

*Again, Rei just cries for a while and doesn't say anything. When she's exhausted all her tears, though, she sits up, rubbing at her face in frustration.*

I just... don't understand... why take me? I-I'm... I'm not worth anything...

*Pauses for a second while she thinks over Rei's statement. Way to go Rei, dropping something heavy like that on a robot that is mentally a child.*

B-but, you are worth something! You're my friend! *Clinging now.* Don't think like that! You're an important person. We may not know why Yggdrasil brought you here, but you must not think that you are not worth anything! *Buries her face in Rei's neck, and whimpers a little.*

*Miria turned it right back on her with that, though. Aside from Allen, no one had ever really said she was their friend before. She's just kind of... staring in shock.*

I'm... I'm your friend... ?

*Miria lifted her head from Rei's shoulders so that she could look the woman in her eyes, with her own tearful eyes.*

*Nods* Yes. *Is now afraid of how Rei is going to react.*

... *It does make her cry again, but amazingly she's smiling.*

*At first is confused by Rei's reaction, but realizes what is going on now. Squeezes Rei a little, and rests her head on Rei's shoulder.*

I guess... the kids on the island were friends, but, i'unno... I spent so much time with Raito that I just never got that close to any of them. Even after he got sick... I spent all my time in the garage with Uncle Iokua.

Going to Europe, though? ... heaven forbid you be different in that place. All I had was Mitch and Allen. Everyone else just... stared...

It hurt. A lot.

Different...? What do you mean? How were you different from them?

*a further blank look makes her continue*

Hawai'i was an island that was mostly populated by either native Hawai'ians or Japanese. I'm Japanese. My parents moved to Hawai'i when I was about two. I never went anywhere else.

In Europe, most people are... Caucasian... Ayran. White. They don't like people who aren't just on principle alone, but being in the middle of a war? If you looked different... well, you got treated like crap.

And... *looks down at her lap* It was worse because I was with Mitch. One time I gave him a kiss on the cheek in public because we were going to school and I was saying goodbye, and some kids threw rocks at us.

But, but! How can they do that! You're a human! Your just like them!

*Is feeling a little livid that anyone would dare hurt Rei just for giving someone a kiss.*

*Rei just shakes her head with a sad smile and looks away*

If I knew why... I'd tell you. But that's how most of Europe was. That's... how a good part of America was, too. Hawai'i was owned by it, but a lot of their ways just didn't make it across the ocean.

If you were different, you weren't right. And if you were different during a war? Then you were probably a spy.

But... its so unfair... *Once again Miria can be found giving Rei a hug.*

It's one thing if they react that way to a machine... but how can they do that to another human?

*Again, Rei can only shake her head*

I really don't know. I suppose it's the same screwed up, lolo mentality that makes them think it's okay to go and kill hundreds of people just because you're at war with another country.

There's a reason my parents didn't want to go back to Japan...

*remains silent for a moment before out right declaring:*

War is stupid...

He was in Germany when the worst of the fighting started. Some how... his letters stopped coming.

I went to Europe to try and find him, but it's like he's just... vanished.

*Miria looks down at her feet. After all there isn't anything she could do about it now. She just hugs tightly...*
